IAGO, Texas – Barbara Somers was one surprised woman when she walked outside her Wharton County home to find more than her SUV parked in her driveway.
As Somers threw out food for her cats, she noticed something was a bit strange looking by her vehicle. Her little dogs were also having a bit of a barking frenzy.
At first she thought her tire had blown out, then she realized what she saw looked more like the tail of an alligator.
Somers bent down and found a 7 foot, 10 inch gator staring right back at her.
After taking some pictures of her new guest to show to her friends, Somers called 911.
Animal Control came and took the gator away.
Officials believe the alligator could have come from nearby Caney Creek, which had recently dried up due to the drought. They said wild creatures have been leaving their natural habitat in search for water.
