WEATHERFORD, Texas -- A dog found in North Texas with her muzzle taped shut on her severely swollen tongue now has a happy life one year after her rescue.

The female pug-mix was found last July in Parker County, west of Fort Worth. Besides having her muzzle taped shut, she was dehydrated and had been stabbed repeatedly.

Now named Hope, the pooch lives with Charlie and Kit Moncrief. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that she’s in a loving home after a year of surgeries and therapy.

Hope's story made headlines worldwide

"Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, England -- people from England want to adopt her," said veterinarian technician Rhonda Sears, who cared for the dog.

"The Netherlands, London, Illinois, Arizona," said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler. The list goes on. "Illinois, Indiana, Iowa."

How could you look into those eyes and do something mean to her?" Sears said last July.

Fowler remains committed to finding her abusers, and a $35,000 reward fund remains for those with tips leading to arrests and convictions.

Anyone with information on Hope or her abuser should contact Parker County Crime Stoppers at 817-599-5555. Reward offers can be funneled through the Sheriff's Office at 817-594-8845. The Texas Humane Alliance encourages anyone with information contact the Sheriff's Office.

Hope’s case inspired Kit Moncrief to create a Saving Hope Foundation to fight animal abuse, neglect and overpopulation.
