DICKINSON, Texas -- A dog owner in Dickinson is blaming herself for the death of her Cocker Spaniel.

Dexter died on Monday from kidney failure after months of eating dog treats from China.

"It's just like emptiness in here," said Camille Cudak. "I just feel so sorry that I put this poor dog through this misery and he suffered so much."

Cudak told us she had no idea that there was a federal investigation going on after hundreds of dogs died and thousand more got sick from treats that seem to originate in China.

Elizabeth Johnson in League City knew about the investigation.

Her dogs Martini and Olive got sick during the summer.

"One had really bad digestion problems and the other lost control of her kidneys," said Johnson. "As soon as we quit the treats, within two or three days, they started coming around."

Johnson called the Food and Drug Administration. She provided blood samples from both dogs in hopes that someone can figure out this mysterious illness.

Cudak is sick with guilt over what happened and has offered to give Dexter's organs up for testing.
