HOUSTON – Kroger is recalling several types of pet food over fears that it may contain a toxic chemical called aflatoxin.

The recalled food includes certain packages of Pet Pride Cat Food, Pet Pride Kitten Food, Old Yeller Chunk Dog Food, Kroger Value Cat Food and Kroger Value Chunk Dog Food.

Click here for specifics on the recalled products.

Aflatoxin is a naturally-occurring toxic chemical byproduct from a fungus that grows on corn and other crops.

If you’ve fed the food to your pets and they’re exhibiting symptoms like sluggishness, a reluctance to eat, severe or bloody diarrhea or a yellowish tint to their eyes or gums, you should call your vet immediately.

If you purchased some of the recalled food, you can return it to any Kroger store for a full refund or replacement, or discard the food and call 1-800-632-6900 for more information.
