Animal Attraction:  Prepare Today!

The 2010 Texas Hurricane Conference begins today at the McAllen Convention Center in McAllen, Texas.  More than 70 workshops, presentations and training sessions will cover a wide variety of topics related to hurricane response and recovery. Topics include evacuation, sheltering, resource staging, re-entry operations, special needs populations, disaster communications, role of voluntary organizations, private sector support, mass care, planning for children in disasters, evacuation tracking, shelter hubs, hospital evacuations, managing mega-shelters, animals in disaster, role of 2-1-1- Texas, the State Hurricane Plan and much more.

The 2010 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins begins June 1st and the American Veterinary has developed this excellent brochure titled, "Saving the Whole Family" which includes information on preparing pets, horses, farm animals and even exotics for evacuation during a disaster.
