On Thursday, July 15th, the Houston SPCA Animal Cruelty Investigation Team assisted Harris County Precinct 1 Constables in the rescue and removal of over 1,000 animals from a home in Highland, Texas after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen. The animals included dogs, rabbits, hamsters, and a large array of birds, all of which were housed in deplorable conditions and lacked the proper food, shelter and care necessary by law. Breeding boxes were visible inside of the bird cages and some dead and dying animals were found on the property. In addition, a thick accumulation of waste, old food and cobwebs could be seen on the bottom of the bird cages. For the latest news on the rescue, visit www.houstonspca.org.
