Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (IM) will hold its second pet food drive of the year for its aniMeals on Wheels program.  The initiative was started five years ago so that seniors on IM's Meals on Wheels program would not feel compelled to share their limited food and resources with their pet companions.

“Many of the seniors we serve live alone and rely on their four legged friends for safety and companionship," said Karina Hernandez, Volunteer Coordinator for Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. "The need for the service has grown dramatically and we rely on the community to help us meet the demand.”

The program is very low on pet food and dog and cat food is desperately needed! aniMeals on Wheels is a completely donation and volunteer driven program delivering more than 8,000 lbs. of dog and cat food to more than 450 seniors and more than 1,100 pets each month. The program relies completely on donations and dog and cat food (both wet and dry) are needed.  Toys and treats will also be collected during the drive.
