Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP), along with Rover Oaks Pet Resort and LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch are teaming up to present the fifth annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Walk & Expo at LaCenterra (23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.) on October 27, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Costumed canines, along with their human companions will hit the streets of Katy’s premier shopping area for a one-mile walk followed by a spirited costume contest and expo featuring fun for everyone, all while benefitting the homeless shelter animals at CAP.  The first 200 participants will receive complimentary goodie bags and a commemorative Howl-O-Ween event t-shirt.  Additionally, CAP is inviting the entire community to stop by their shelter following the dog walk for a one-day special of $15 micro-chipping (coupons will be available at the event).

Howl-O-Ween Dog Walk & Expo 2012 begins at 8:00 a.m. with registration and refreshments, leading up to the one-mile walk that kicks off at 9:00 a.m.  Hundreds of supporters will fill the streets of LaCenterra, helping raise much-needed funds to support CAP and its mission of sheltering, rescuing and placing homeless animals.

All guests are invited to display their four-legged best friend’s spookiest or kookiest costume on the block and give their pooch a chance to strut its stuff in the Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest beginning at 10 a.m. Whether scary or sweet, canines will surely be the “bark of the block” when competing for great prizes and treats. Celebrity judges, including Council member Carol Adams, Houston reality show star Erica Rose, KTRK meteorologist Casey Curry and Kindermusic’s Kathy Ricke will crown the champion, all to benefit a great cause!

The Howl-O-Ween event festivities continue throughout the morning in Heritage Square, LaCenterra’s central courtyard, where guests and their pets will enjoy interacting with other precious pooches while visiting pet-focused vendors and information booths. Guests will have a
chance to learn about the best types of food for their pets from pet nutrition experts, pick up tips on how to shape a pet’s good manners from several professional trainers, receive advice on
grooming and much more!

Participants can enter to win door prizes from Rover Oaks Pet Resort and LaCenterra. Prizes
include a free weekend of lodging, free obedience training, a complimentary “pet makeover”
from Rover Oaks Pet Resort‘s posh grooming salon and LaCenterra gift cards.

Additionally, local Houston-area rescue organizations will be available with pets ready for
adoption that are ready to meet their new “forever” families!  Representatives will also be on
hand to talk about each animal, as well as to highlight the benefits of adoption and discuss area foster programs.

Howl-O-Ween Dog Walk & Expo 2012 would not be possible without the support of this year’s
partners: Rover Oaks Pet Resort, LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, Kroger, United Airlines, Natural
Pawz, Invisible Fence, Waggin' Tails Pet Ranch, Houston PetTalk Magazine, Texas Dogs & Cats
Magazine, Schmuck, Smith, Tees & CO., PC, Subaru, Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, Mis-
Tee-V-US and Mirage Mobile DJ.

All proceeds from this event will go towards CAP’s mission of sheltering, rescuing and placing
homeless animals: "Speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves." The Howl-O-Ween Dog Walk & Expo 2012 committee encourages interested participants to save money by preregistering for the walk and the costume contest.
