HOUSTON -- Forty dogs that were left homeless by the Gulf oil spill arrived at the Houston SPCA from Louisiana Wednesday.

Chief Investigator Charles Jantzen and Investigator Randy Farmer made the drive to get the dogs in the Houston SPCA’s climate-controlled 18-wheeler.

If you’re looking for a furry addition to the family, head over to the Houston SPCA for Barktoberfest, which runs through October 3.

During Barktoberfest, all dogs six months and older that weigh 30 pounds or more can be adopted for half the normal fee.
