Sherry Williams anchors KHOU 11 News Saturday morning from 7-9 a.m.. She can also be seen reporting on "What's Right," weekly reports that highlight positive, inspiring stories in our community. Sherry was the inaugural anchor of 11 News First Look, which airs weekdays at 4:30 a.m.
With 30 years of experience in broadcast news, Sherry has worked for TV and radio stations in Houston, Dallas and Detroit and as a correspondent for Black Entertainment Television. Before joining the KHOU 11 News Team, she anchored the 9 p.m. news at Channel 39 and reported at Fox 26 Houston.
Sherry is known for her down-to-Earth, energetic, accessible anchor style and for popular on-air catch phrases like: Goodnight Friends and Neighbors" and "That's How We Roll!"
Sherry grew up in Houston’s Third Ward near the TSU campus and attended HISD’s Turner Elementary, Lanier Junior High and Lamar High school. She attended college at Texas A&M University in College Station, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism.
Sherry has been nominated for Emmy Awards for reporting as well as for producing and hosting a talk show. She has won awards from the Associated Press, the Houston Press Club, the Dallas Press Club and United Press International.
Sherry is married to her college sweetheart, Rube Williams, Jr., Ph.D. She gets a kick out of telling people he is a real-live rocket scientist. Rube is the founder and CEO of Jet Learning Laboratory, a physics and mathematics learning center. He is also the founder of SKY High School, a private college prep school in southwest Houston. They have a high-energy talented daughter named "Tye" and a crazy dog named Dora.
Sherry is an experienced marathoner in two sports. In April 2004 Sherry began an annual tradition of completing the MS-150 marathon bike ride from Houston to Austin. The ride benefits the Multiple Sclerosis Society. In 2010, she founded the KHOU 11 Bike Team, made up of co-workers and friends.
In January 2011, Sherry began a tradition of competing in the Houston Half-Marathon, running 13.1 miles in honor of her dear brother Reginald, who passed away from colon cancer in October 2010. When she ran in January 2012, she did so in memory of her father "Woodard" as well, who passed away from prostate cancer in September 2011. Sherry supports the American Cancer Society in honor of her beloved father and brother.

How long have you lived in Houston?
I grew up here, moved away at 18 to attend Texas A & M and then returned in 1999. Can't stay away!

Fandango. I love movies.

Do you have any pets?
Yes, a dog named Dora (cuz she's an explorer!)
What is something you wouldn’t leave the house without?
My phone, sadly.
Favorite part of working in news?
The adrenaline rush of covering Breaking News and the joy of talking to viewers from the Anchor Desk.
If you could trade lives with someone for a day, who would that be?
No one. I love my life.

Jerry McGuire, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane and Valley of the Dolls

The Bible and any well written mystery

The kind that taste really good!
What kind of music do you like?
Anything I can run or bike to.

What is one thing you dream to do?
Help produce a movie.
What is one thing about you most people might be surprised by?
I used to bully my younger brother when we were kids. Then one day, he socked me in the nose and I never bullied him again!
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Any beautiful place that I am seeing for the first time.
Where was your last vacation?
I can't even remember. Mexico is a safe guess.
What is your favorite soft drink?
Coke mixed with club soda.
Do you have any siblings?
Four living, two deceased.
What else might we like to know about you?
I cannot sing a note. I cannot dance very well. But, I love to do both!

Does napping count? If not, cycling and tennis.

My dear parents, Helen and Raleigh Woodard.
