Meteorologist
KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez anchors weekend weathercasts.
Gomez graduated with a degree in meteorology from the University of Colorado. He served as an air weather officer in the United States Air Force and worked for the National Weather Service in Denver, Colorado. Gomez is a member of the American Meteorological Association and the National Weather Association. He maintains Television Seals of Approval in both organizations.
He is the father of three and participates in many of Houston’s charitable events. Gomez served as host of the first annual Houston SPCA telethon in 1995 which raised more than $100,000.

How long have you lived in Houston?
I have lived in Houston since 1984.
What is your favorite mobile app?
That's an easy one...the KHOU weather app is top notch.
Where is your hometown?
I was born in San Antonio, a military brat and proud to have also served in the Air Force.
Do you have any pets?
I have two dogs and I'm currently fostering a cat. Our poodle Rexi was a stray. Bella, a three pound chihuahua was adopted from the SPCA recently.
What is something you wouldn’t leave the house without?
Thanks to KHOU 11 and the need to stay up to date with the constantly changing weather, my cell phone is a must have and something I can't leave the house without!
What is your favorite part of working in television news?
Just like the weather, no two days are ever alike when you're working for a news gathering organization. KHOU has the best team of professionals in the business and are great to work with.
If you could trade lives with someone for a day, who would that be?
Any astronaut or jet pilot that flies high enough to almost slip into space.
What is your favorite movie in 2011?
You have to love the latest version of True Grit.
What are your 3 favorite films?
True Grit, Gladiator, Patton
What are your favorite foods?
Make it Italian or Mexican for me
What kind of music do you like?
Jazz, Rock

Earth, Wind and Fire
What is always in your refrigerator you cannot live without?
If you're from Texas, you've got to have beer and all the fix'ns to make chile.
