Getting to know KHOU 11 News Anchor Lily Jang

What is your favorite thing about Houston?

It's HOME! I grew up here and my parents are in the same house since I was in the second grade.

Where did you attend High School?

Langham Creek H.S. in NW Houston.

What might you like to know about me?

I'm a foodie. Love all kinds of foods and love trying new cuisines. I can probably eat more than you. It's a fact! I'm a travel junkie. Just came back from Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico for New Year's Eve. I love learning about new cultures. I'm a fitness fanatic. Taught aerobics for 9 years. Enjoy Crossfit, hot yoga and a good long run. I am a social media addict. If there's breaking news, you'll see it immediately on my Facebook/Twitter pages. I love being connected to viewers.

What makes Houston special?

It's my hometown!!

Do you have special places you enjoy?

Grew up eating Shipley's donuts, kolaches, Dim Sum in Bellaire, and mom and dad's cooking. Can't forget Pappasito's fajitas!

Any places that mean Houston to you?

The Water Wall was always a place we went after school dances. Weekend hangout was Willowbrook Mall.

Are there people that mean Houston to you?

Mom and dad. They are my foundation.

What does "KHOU Stands for Houston" mean to you?

I always knew Channel 11 as 'The Spirit of Texas' so KHOU is familiar. Comfortable. A station I grew up watching.

What was growing up in Houston Like?

Growing up here meant I was a big city girl. So many opportunities. Anything is possible in Houston.

What was it like growing up on your street?

We played kickball in the middle of the street in front of my house after school. Slumber parties with neighborhood kids. I have fond memories of that time.

Do your parents still live there?

They moved there when I was in second grade and still live in the same exact house!! Made me mow the lawn, water the grass, wash their cars. Probably why I'll never own a yard and drive my car through the car wash for the rest of my life!

Do you have any pets?

No pets, but hopefully this is the year I rescue my new best friend.

What is something you wouldn't leave the house without?

Anyone who's ever met me knows that I can't leave my house without my cell phone. I'm glued to social media.

What is your favorite part of working in television news?

Houston is made up of people from all walks of life and everyone has an inspiring story to tell. I'm honored I get to be the one who tells it.

What are your 3 favorite films?

Don't laugh but I love "The Holiday," "Love, Actually," "Shawshank Redemption," and "The Green Mile." OK, that was 4!

What are your reading right now?

I have Steve Jobs' book I ordered from Amazon but I promised myself I'll unpack those twenty boxes in my house first.

What are your favorite sports teams?

I grew up a Houston Oilers fan. Been a Seattle Mariners and Seahawks fan and I'm adding the Texans to the top of that list!

What are your favorite foods?

I could eat pizza, Korean BBQ or sushi everyday. I'm the most un-picky eater you'll ever meet. I love everything.

Who is your favorite artist?

Mat Kearney. Been to his concert 3 times. He's slowly becoming a household name. Something about his lyrics speak to me.

Coffee or Tea or Neither?

I drink green tea but rarely coffee. I'm one of those people who spring out of bed without ever hitting snooze and bounce into work with a big smile. When you love your job, it's easy to be this annoying to others!

What is one thing you dream to do?

Visit 10 new countries every year. I love to travel.

What is one place in the world that you would like to visit?

Bali. That's on the list for 2012.

Where was your last vacation?

Puerto Rico on New Year's Eve.

What is your favorite soft drink?

I rarely drink sodas but it would be Diet Coke if I do.

What is your favorite midnight snack?

Snack is not a word in my vocabulary. I can eat an entire pizza at midnight when I'm hungry and no one can stop me!!

What is your favorite pastime?

I love a good run around Memorial Park or a hard core Crossfit class. Gotta get movin'!

If you had 1-million dollars, what would you do with it?

I'd split it up and give most away to my family and friends. I don't need much to live comfortably.
