HOUSTON—Aiden Tucker loves playing baseball. And his dad who also happens to be his coach has a keen eye for the game.
Together, the father and son make plenty of memories on the Little League baseball field.
But perhaps no memory is quite as special as the one they shared Wednesday night at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo during the Eli Young Band performance.
"I’ve never experienced that with anyone I’ve known," said Aiden’s father Brent Tucker. "That was a once in a life time opportunity."
It was all captured in a photograph that shows Aiden being serenaded by lead singer Mike Eli.
"It was an awesome moment," said Tucker. "We’re sitting there. We see Mike come off the stage. Next thing we know, he’s singing a song to Aiden. It was just a fantastic part of the night."
Turns out the picture was taken by a complete stranger named Michael Pfeifer. Moments earlier, Pfeifer had snapped his own selfie with the singer before reaching back to help Aiden get a front row view.
"I just picked him up and put him in front of me," said Pfiefer. "And I watched as Mike Eli sang to him."
When Pfeifer’s mother saw the picture, she contacted KHOU and asked us to help find the little boy’s family. We posted it on our Facebook page and asked our viewers for help. Tucker saw the post within minutes.
"We didn’t even know the guy took that picture," said Tucker. "And so when we saw it on the Internet, it was like, ‘Oh man, this is big.’"
It was even bigger to Aiden, who in addition to being a country music fan, happens to be deaf. He was born that way. About a year ago, he received a cochlear implant allowing him to hear out of one side.
Aiden said he liked the picture.
"I was like, ‘Oh no,’" said Aiden. "It was so great and so fabulous."
"I’m really glad I could give that little boy the experience of a lifetime," said Pfeifer.
Aiden’s father will forever be grateful.
"That made a memory for him that he’ll have for the rest of his life," Tucker said.
