TEXAS CITY, Texas — Confidence. Doubt. Terror. Elation. Ravi Prakash’s emotions ran the gamut Aug. 6 when the rover Curiosity landed on the surface of Mars.

As a member of the rover crew’s Entry, Descent and Landing Team, Prakash was, in part, responsible for making sure Curiosity landed without a hitch.

"I was pretty confident a few days out that we would land successfully, but on landing day, I felt a lot of nerves," Prakash, a Texas City native, said. "I thought, ‘No way it would work. So many things had to go right to do this successfully.’"
