November is American Diabetes Month, so KHOU Channel 11 has teamed up with the American Diabetes Association and H-E-B for a free health awareness event – Feria de Salud – Friday, November 5, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the H-E-B Plus in Pearland, 2805 Business Center Drive.
Take charge of your health with diabetes education, glucose and blood pressure screening, nutrition counseling, exercise demonstrations and more. Diabetes is a serious disease that leads to potentially life-threatening complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, and amputation.
More than 23 million children and adults live with diabetes and another 53 million are at high risk. The Centers for Disease Control expect these numbers to double or possibly triple by 2050.
