November is American Diabetes Month, so Channel 11 has teamed up with the American Diabetes Association and H-E-B for a free health awareness event – The Spirit of Texas Health Day – Friday, November 6, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the H-E-B Plus in Pearland, 2805 Business Center Drive.
Take charge of your health with diabetes education, glucose and blood pressure screening, nutrition counseling, exercise demonstrations and more. Diabetes is a serious disease that leads to potentially life-threatening complications such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, and amputation.
Currently, 24 million children and adults in the United States live with diabetes.
To assist with early diagnosis and prevention of this disease, Channel 11 and its partners will host a second event on November 13 at the Gulfgate H-E-B. To learn more about diabetes education and prevention, visit www.diabetes.org.
