HOUSTON - Participants from all five campuses of Second Baptist Church will mobilize on Saturday, March 24, 2012 to volunteer in the Houston metropolitan area as part of our tenth annual Serve Houston community service initiative.
A record 56 crews will work on 48 individual Fourth and Fifth Ward homes, repairing, renovating and painting, thereby serving the greatest number of homes by any one agency at one time in partnership with Rebuilding Together Houston, the area’s largest community outreach organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods.
Second Family volunteers will also serve various area ministries, including Houston Food Bank, Boys and Girls Country, Katy Christian Ministries, Aldine Y.O.U.T.H, Star of Hope, Crisis Pregnancy Center and many more.
Other citywide service projects include feeding the homeless, interacting with nursing home residents, sorting groceries and clothing, yard work and preparing critical needs packages.
