HOUSTON – One of the top attractions at the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is food, and this year was no exception.
Hungry visitors gobbled up everything from fried bacon to pork sundaes to good old-fashioned barbecue.
They washed it all down with gallons of lemonade, soft drinks and, of course, beer.
Here’s a breakdown of some of the favorites served in 2012:
146,000 barbecue sandwiches
50,000 pounds of potatoes
30,000 tamales
23,000 cinnamon rolls
10,000 orders of chicken fried bacon
9,000 pounds of shrimp
8,000 pizzas
6,300 orders of catfish
6,000 orders of fried cookie dough
4,500 pulled pork sundaes
3,000 orders of chicken fried meatballs
