The Woodlands, Texas – The public is invited to share in celebrating George P. Mitchell’s life and accomplishments Thursday at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the outdoor amphitheater he built and named for his wife in The Woodlands, the hometown he created. It is located at 2005 Lake Robbins Drive. Gates open at 6 p.m. and parking is free.

The event will celebrate Mitchell’s contributions to science, energy and the environment with performances by the Houston Symphony, the Texas A&M Singing Cadets and guest speakers.

Mitchell died on July 26 at the age of 94. He created The Woodlands, a 25,000-acre master-planned community in 1974.
