HOUSTON – Many KHOU 11 News viewers have asked about a young boy seen running down Westheimer Saturday night around 8 p.m.

Several people rushed to help the child who is autistic and was unable to communicate, according to witnesses.

There were incorrect reports that the boy was at Texas Children’s Hospital and his family hadn’t been found.

We called Houston police for an update Monday and here is their response: "We are happy to report that he is safe and with his family. The boy apparently left home, and his family immediately reported him missing and began searching for him. Thanks to everyone who got involved and helped to almost immediately return him to his loved ones."
