HOUSTON – A Houston teacher has been honored by People Magazine as “Teacher of the Year.”
Arwen Imai Matthews is the head of the science department at Kipp 3-D Academy Middle School.
“(She) ignited an enduring passion for science in hundreds of students,” the magazine said.
The teachers are nominated by readers and are then selected by a board of education professionals.
The issue hits newsstands on October 22.
