HOUSTON – More than 70 puppies, dogs, kittens and cats will be available for adoption at BARC Animal Shelter and Adoptions’ Adoption Stampede Mega Adoption Event on Saturday, March 2 at CITYCENTRE.
The adoption will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 822 Town and Country Blvd., in Houston, just below Studio Movie Grill. There will be dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, colors and personalities available for adoption.
“This is going to be huge,” said Chris Newport, BARC spokesman. “It’s a big deal to us to have the opportunity to take our animals to a place in town where we’ve never been. We’re taking our adoption events and outreach efforts to a whole new level in 2013.
This is just the beginning. Our goal is to leave CITYCENTRE with only empty crates in tow and we have done everything we can to make sure all of Houston knows about it so that every single animal gets to go home with the loving new family they deserve.”
Proler Southwest/Sims Metal Management is sponsoring this event, and they are providing charitable donations such as crates for the animals, 900 square-feet of grass to put inside the event facility to walk dogs, signs to help raise awareness about BARC and more.
Also more than 40 Proler Southwest/Sims Metal Management employees plan to volunteer their time at the adoption.
“We have never had a sponsor for a BARC event like this,” said Newport. “We are grateful to them for playing such a big role in helping to save the lives of Houston’s homeless animals. With their help, we have been able to make this event even bigger and better than we could have imagined.”
Adoption fees at BARC’s Adoption Stampede mega event are as follows:
- $50 for dogs
- $75 for puppies
- $20 for cats
- $35 for kittens
BARC’s pet adoption package includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a city license, a pre-registered microchip with lifetime registration and more. To adopt, citizens must be 18 years of age with a current Driver’s License or ID and must provide proof of current address. Those who rent must have landlord approval. Adopters must have permission of all adults living at the residence and other animals residing at the residence must be current on vaccinations.
BARC will only accept payment by cash or check at the event.
Other details about BARC’s adoption process are listed on the “About Adopting at BARC” page on BARC’s website.
For those who are unable to make it to this Saturday’s event at CITYCENTRE, BARC encourages Houstonians to stop by BARC’s facility. BARC is located at 3200 Carr St., in Houston, and is open for adoptions every Tuesday to Wednesday and Friday to Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
