ROSENBERG, Texas -- Lottery players hoping to have better odds, bought their Mega Millions lottery tickets at Rudy’s Stop and Shop in Rosenberg.

James Ashley came from Missouri City to buy his tickets.

“Yeah, I feel lucky,” Ashley said.

Hundreds have received a payout from Rudy’s, and in 2011, a man won $1 million from a scratch-off ticket.

Tuesday night’s drawing is for an estimated $636 million jackpot, with a cash value of $341.2 million. In fact, you have better odds of being bit by a shark.

“People get eaten by a shark, at least once a year,” said Kate Maloy. “So you take a chance [buying lottery tickets].”

Pete Cavazos from Needville, with cash for lottery tickets, and a plan for when he wins the jackpot.

“First, I’m going to contact a lawyer and put it through a trust,” said Cavazos, “And I’ll have an accountant also.”

Cavazos said charity is important, and he would give a bulk of his winnings to his church and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

“I’ve lost loved ones,” Cavazos said.

Claudia Mollerup-Madsen, a Vice President with Morgan Stanley, says the winner should have a financial planner, an accountant, and a lawyer before coming forward to claim the prize.

She adds, since the winners identity will be made public, they should also consider having a spokesperson to speak on their behalf.

“You are going to be … confronted by the world, because you will suddenly have access to so much money,” said Mollerup-Madsen.

She also says even if you only win a few million, or $500,000, it’s still best to get professional financial help.

The winning numbers will be drawn at 10 p.m. Tuesday.

If there is no winning ticket, Friday’s jackpot will be $950 million.
