HOUSTON – Mayor Annise Parker read a proclamation at City Hall on Tuesday afternoon marking KHOU’s 60 years of service to the community.

September 10 was named “KHOU 11 Day” in the City of Houston.

“We're very honored to be here today to receive this recognition,” said KHOU President and General Manager Susan McEldoon. "Wow, KHOU Day in the City of Houston is pretty amazing."

Several of the station's department heads at KHOU were recognized and some council members expressed their thoughts on the theme song "KHOU Stands for Houston."

"I've always thought if we had a theme song in this city it would be your commercial,” said Council Member Jack Christie. “And then watching Len and Greg Hurst do flawless -- I've never seen them make a grammatical error the whole time.”

"Thanks a lot for what you do, because how you present what you present has tremendous impact,” said Vice Mayor Pro-term C.O. Bradford.

KHOU would like to thank the city for recognizing the work that we do day in and day out.
