HOUSTON – Houston native Lily Jang is coming home to co-anchor KHOU 11 News This Morning with Ron Trevino, Katherine Whaley and David Paul.
Jang will join KHOU after spending the last seven years at KCPQ, the Fox station in Seattle. While there, she co-anchored and reported for the station’s morning newscast.
Prior to joining KCPQ, Jang was an anchor and reporter for Northwest Cable News and worked at stations in Birmingham, Alabama and Amarillo.
Jang is looking forward to finally returning to her roots in Houston where her parents and other family members live. She said her main motivation for moving was to spend time with her father, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease.
"I’m not obliged to do this, it’s an honor. My parents did everything so my brother and I could live the American Dream," Jang told media blogger John Yeager. "And when you make a decision from the heart you never regret it."
Jang grew up in the Copperfield area and attended Langham Creek High School. She went on to the University of Texas in Austin where she graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
She is an avid social media user with a loyal following on both Facebook and Twitter. Jang has twice been named by The Huffington Post as a Twitter Powerhouse.
Jang is a longtime member of the Asian American Journalists Association and is fluent in both Vietnamese and Cantonese.
KHOU 11 looks forward to welcoming Lily to the news desk in late February.
