Labor of Love: $5 adoption special at Houston SPCA

Dozens of dogs and cats from Louisiana are getting some tender loving care in Houston. The Houston SPCA agreed to accept the Hurricane Isaac evacuees from the St. Bernard Parish Animal Control Center in Louisiana. The 35 small dogs, 10 puppies, 14 kittens and 10 cats from Louisiana -- along with many others -- are available for adoption.

HOUSTON -- Take a break from the dog days of summer and head down to the Houston SPCA and find your new best friend. From Friday, August 31, through Monday, September 3, the Houston SPCA will host a “$5 For a Fancy Feline” event for all approved adopters. 

This special will also include all of the cats that were evacuated out of Hurricane Isaac’s path this past week. This Labor Day weekend the Houston SPCA will be open, 11am to 7pm on Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday and 11am to 7pm on Monday, Labor Day.

Each adoption package is valued at over $400 and includes:

  • A health evaluation, initial vaccinations and rabies vaccinations for felines three months and older
  • Spay / neuter surgery
  • Microchipping with free lifetime registration
  • A complimentary overall wellness examination provided by a VCA Animal Hospital
  • One bag of cat / kitten food courtesy of Hill’s Science Diet
  • And, of course, a friend for life!
