Not sure what to do for Independence Day this year? Luckily, we've compiled a list of July 4th events around the city for the whole family! Take a look at how Houston's ringing in the Fourth of July, and be sure to let us know in the comments below if we missed any events.

 

FULSHEAR: Fulshear Freedom Fest & Fireworks Show

What: The Fulshear Freedom Fest, hosted by the City of Fulshear and the Fulshear Area Chamber of Commerce. Music, parade, children’s activities, fireworks, shopping, and food.

Where: Downtown Fulshear

When:  Friday, July 4, 2014, 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

FRIENDSWOOD: 119th Annual 4th of July Celebration

What: Come out for a day filled with fun. Theall-day event is packed with things to keep you entertained, including a parade, over 50 vendors booths, entertainment, rides, games, live music, a fireworks spectacular and more.

Where: Stevenson Park. The parade will begin at the corner of FM 518 and Heritage Drive, and will travel down Friendswood Drive

When: Friday, July 4, 2014, starting at 10 a.m. and ending around 10 p.m.

GALVESTON: Galveston Island Independence Day Parade

What: A parade featuring a procession of floats, decorated military vehicles and performers. A fireworks display will take place after the parade, at 37th St. and Seawall Blvd.

Where: The parade will start at 45th Street on Seawall Blvd.

When: Friday, July 4, 2014. The parade begins at 7:30 p.m., and the fireworks display is scheduled to start at 9:15 p.m.

GALVESTON: Bands on the Sands

What: A popular concert series, each show will be followed with a fireworks display.

Where: Moody Gardens’ Palm Beach

When: Friday, July 4, 2014 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

GALVESTON: "Let Freedom Sing!" at The Grand 1894 Opera House

What: Independence Day performances featuring The Texas Tenors. Come for a concert filled with patriotism and rousing Broadway, Gospel and classical music.

Where: The Grand 1984 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice St., Galveston, TX

When: Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 4 p.m.

Price: Tickets range from $28-$38 per person

GALVESTON: Movie Nite on the Strand

What: Bring your chairs, pillows and blankets for a night with the family. Come and watch Rocky under the stars in the salty air.

Where: Saengerfest Park, located at the corner of 23rd and Strand St.

HOUSTON: July 4th Celebration at Bayou Bend

What: Performers, refreshments, activities, crafts and more will keep the whole family entertained for hours. Join the Museum of Fine Arts in celebrating Independence Day at our city's home for  paintings and patriotic works of art.

HOUSTON: The Writers Block Independence Day Celebration: Support the Troops

What: The Writer’s Block co-founder AJ McQueen (who has been awarded by President Obama) and co-founder Tray Briscoe will host an event filled with music, poetry, art and a Declaration of Independence reading.

HOUSTON: Southwest Airlines Freedom Over Texas

What: An extraordinary patriotic celebration, Mayor Annise Parker's official Fourth of July event promises a rousing good time. Guests include Sugarland frontwoman Jennifer Nettles and Chip Esten and Clare Bowen from the hit TV show "Nashville." Bring your lawnchairs and blankets, end enjoy the iconic Houston skyline as your backdrop.

HOUSTON: Houston Symphony's Star Spangled Salute

What: Enjoy a free concert, courtesy of the Houston Symphony, where you'll enjoy patriotic, toe-tapping American music. The performance of the 1812 Overture will be complete with a booming cannon, and an outdoor fireworks show will be given after the performance.

What: Hosted by the Texas Inmate Family Association, the event is welcome to families and children who have dealt with the incarceration of a family member. Come and experience fireworks and other holiday fun.

HOUSTON: ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights: Star-Spangled Salute

What: Conductor Michael Krajewski and the Houston Symphony will be performing patriotic classics and music of Simon & Garfunkel. The performance of the 1812 Overture will feature authentic booming cannons, and will be immediately followed by an outdoor fireworks spectacular.

KEMAH: 4th of July Fireworks Show

What: The Independence Day fireworks show is a community tradition. Bring the whole family out to the Kemah Boardwalk, where you can enjoy a spectacular fireworks show with the view of Clear Lake and the Pleasure Pier carnival rides. There will be live music and entertainment for all ages.

PEARLAND: Celebration of Freedom

What: Honor our nation's independence through a VFW military salute and relaxing to the sounds of the Texas Unlimited Band. Stadium and field seating available at no charge. Food will be available for purchase, though you're welcome to bring your own snacks. A 20-minute fireworks display will begin at sundown.

TOMBALL: July 4th Celebration and Street Party presented by the Emerus Community Hospital

What: Tomball residents will have a blast at this community street party, where attendees can expect live music, a giant Kids Zone of wet and dry play, ribs, BBQ, bounce houses, petting zoo, pony rides, a country hayride, face painting and more.
