HOUSTON -- An Iraq war veteran visiting Houston from Massachusetts has been reunited with her service dog after he was snatched from a car over the weekend.

Blanka Stratford left her Havanese named Spencer in her parked car on Fargo Street in Montrose on Saturday night.

Stratford went for food and drinks with a friend, and when she came back, Spencer was nowhere to be found. The thief also took her laptop and camera.

Stratford posted fliers all over the area. She also issued a public plea on KHOU and offered a $2,000 reward for her dog.

A man contacted Stratford shortly after the story aired on Monday’s 10 p.m. news. He claimed to have found Spencer wandering near Midtown.

Stratford rushed to meet the man and reclaim her dog. She handed over the financial reward despite being skeptical about the man’s story.
