HOUSTON – The Alley Theatre has announced its first plan for a major renovation since 1968, which is focused on stage improvements, audience amenities and building upgrades.
The Alley Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Houston’s Theatre District, produces 393 performances annually. The nonprofit theatre is the only downtown performing arts venue owned and operated by a performing arts company.
The $73 million capital campaign, named “Extended Engagement” includes three components: artistic enhancement, interior and exterior renovation and endowment and cash reserve.
“Renovations planned will embrace the unique features of this iconic building, enhancing its character with 21st Century theatre systems and audience amenities to insure its value to tomorrow’s audiences and theatre artists,” the Alley Theatre said in a news release.
