HOUSTON – A Houston Aggie has spent a small fortune to send a message to the Texans.

Attorney Tony Buzbee has about a dozen billboards around Houston urging the Texans to keep Johnny Manziel in the Lone Star State.

Buzbee has also launched a Facebook campaign to draft Manziel, the Aggies quarterback who is leaving college to enter the NFL.

The Texans have the first pick in the draft.

"There’s a lot of people behind me, helping with this," Buzbee said.

He says the petition has thousands of signatures in support of drafting Johnny Football.

Buzbee admits it may not make a difference in the end, but he hopes Texans owner Bob McNair is paying attention.

"My number one choice would be the Texans. But if Jerry Jones decided to take Johnny Football, then God bless him and I would be in Dallas every weekend," Buzbee said.

A number of fans said they would like to see Manziel on the team, but they don’t always agree that he’s worthy of the first pick.

"I think [Teddy] Bridgewater would be a better bet for us," Barry Heaton said.

"I think he [Manziel] would find it very different in the NFL, a very different situation," said Vic Hopkins.

Buzbee, a former Aggie regent, is not revealing how much he spent on the Manziel campaign.
