HOUSTON - The 5th annual Cabaret for a Cure Gala was held on Saturday, January 21 at the downtown Hilton Hotel.
This magical evening featured the amazing seven-time Grammy-award winning legend Al Jarreau as he charmed audiences with this soulful voice, performing hits like "We're In This Love Together" and "After All."
Additional performances featured cabaret singers and musicians from Houston, New York and Los Angeles. Great Day Houston Host Deborah Duncan emceed the event and sang "At Last" from the late Etta James.
All funds raised by Cabaret for a Cure will benefit the HIV/AIDS programs at Legacy Community Health Services.
Legacy Community Health Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Houston. Each year, they provide low-cost or no-cost healthcare services to nearly 40,000 Houston area men, women and children.
Their focus is on the underserved citizens in the community - those who, without their services, would either go untreated or place an additional strain on Houston's overburdened hospital emergency rooms. Legacy employs a full-time staff of over 250 doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and support staff. They operate from four Houston area clinics.
Legacy Community Health Services specializes in providing HIV/AIDS healthcare services and programs, including case management services and financial assistance for prescriptions and insurance co-pays and premiums for HIV-positive patients.
Legacy provides healthcare services for everyone - not just those impacted by HIV/AIDS - which means they offer priomary and specialized care for all men, women and children, regardless of HIV status.
The most extraordinary aspect of Legacy is that they offer an incredible array of primary and specialized healthcare services at little or no cost to patients; all services are rendered on a sliding-fee scale.
The support of the community is crucial to their success. For more information on Legacy Community Health Services, visit http://www.legacycommunityhealth.org.
