HOUSTON— The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women campaign on Friday celebrates its 10th annual National Wear Red Day.

The day kicks off American Heart Month, which serves to generate awareness that heart disease and stroke remain the No. 1 and No. 4 health threats for women.

Many Houston-area businesses are helping note the occasion through events and fundraisers.

You’ll see some landmarks and businesses turning buildings red on or around Feb. 1, including Houston City Hall, Houston Fire Department stations, Memorial City Shopping Plaza, Memorial Hermann Hospitals, Menninger Clinic, One Shell Plaza, The Galleria (with a logo placed on the ice rink), The Houstonian Fitness Center and the Williams Tower.

Macy’s shoppers at Memorial City Mall are invited Thursday to a “Find Your Red” Shopping Party. Attendees can get style tips for their red attire and accessories and learn more about the Go Red movement.
