HOUSTON – KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson visited the Weather Museum on Monday to take a closer look at hurricanes.

Johnson even entered the Hurricane simulator at the museum to find out what it feels like to be inside of a hurricane.

“This is a Category 1 hurricane with winds of 78 miles per hour,” Johnson said.

According to Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, that is a minimal hurricane.

“It’s important to remember how deadly, costly and severe these storms can be,” Johnson said. Be prepared. “First aid kit, water, batteries -- just a few things you will need,” Johnson said. You may pick up your hurricane guide at KHOU during business hours.
