HUMBLE, Texas -- A 49-year-old woman from Humble is missing. She failed to report to her overnight shift at Memorial Herman Northeast, and now her family is calling for help.
The mother of two and grandmother, Ava Hicks is missing. No one has heard from her since she left Tuesday morning for her overnight shift at Memorial Hermann Northeast.
“I just want to tell her if she could just text somebody and let us know that she’s OK," said Alexis Toliver, Hicks’ daughter. "If she could call it don’t matter just somebody that could tell her voice and let us know that she is alive and she’s not hurt."
As a medical lab technician, Hicks is used to the occasional shift which had her out the door in the early morning hours.
“Every morning, we say our prayers," said Taylor Robinson, Hick’s youngest daughter. "She walks down and I wait on her to warm up her car and she pulled off at 2:02 a.m."
Hicks would talk to her daughters often throughout her shifts. When neither of the girls could get a hold of their mother, they called the hospital and a coworker confirmed their suspicions: Ava never made it to her shift. They called the police.
“She gets along with everybody, said Toliver. "She’s always laughing, always joking. I couldn’t think of anyone that would want to harm her.”
Now they will just have to wait, and hope that their mother is OK.
