CLEAR LAKE, Texas—Join the community to honor veterans from all branches of the military at University of Houston-Clear Lake’s 10th annual Veterans Day Celebration Sunday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m., in UH-Clear Lake’s Liberty Park, 2700 Bay Area Blvd., Houston, 77058.
“Each year on Nov. 11, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country in the U.S. Armed Forces,” says Cheryl Rohde, executive secretary of university advancement and event coordinator. “At UHCL we also celebrate those who are currently serving. This year, we will give special recognition to our Vietnam-era veterans and bidding them ‘Welcome Home,’ which for some may mark their first such public acknowledgment.”
The university has hosted a Veterans Day Celebration since 2003.
Former Vietnam prisoner of war and retired U.S. Navy Capt. Robert Naughton will present “The Call to Serve.” A Huey helicopter landing is scheduled and the presentation of colors will be presented by Clear Lake High School Jr. ROTC. Vintage military vehicles and equipment will be on display, provided by Bluebonnet Military Motor Pool. Complimentary refreshments will be served. Parking and admission are free.
This event is sponsored by the Office of Alumni and Community Relations. In case of rain, the event will be held in the university’s Bayou Building.
