HOUSTON – KHOU 11 News has added Brooks Garner to its award-winning weather team, led by Chief Meteorologist David Paul.

Garner is currently a meteorologist at WFLA in Tampa, where he’s had extensive experience covering tropical storms and hurricanes.

He won an Emmy in the weather category in 2012 and was the only meteorologist allowed to fly into Superstorm Sandy last year.

Garner holds the National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society Seals of Approval.

He is a graduate of Mississippi State University’s broadcast meteorology program and also has a degree from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston.

Garner is an outdoors and fitness enthusiast. He once rode his bicycle across the country in a seven-week trip from Virginia Beach to Los Angeles.

When Garner joins KHOU in May, he will do weekday weather on our noon and 4 p.m. newscasts.
