COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The online auction for the Texas license plate ‘12THMAN’ doesn’t close for 29 days, but it has already set a new state record, MyPlates.com announced Wednesday.

Bidding for the Aggie-inspired vanity plate has surpassed $30,000, beating out the previous record-holder ‘HOUSTON,’ which sold for $25,000. The auction started earlier this week.

Proceeds from the MyPlates.com 12THMAN Auction benefit Texas A&M University and the General Revenue Fund of Texas. My Plates says the company is donating its share to the University.
