HOUSTON--Help is pouring in for one Louisiana family that evacuated to Houston ahead of Hurricane Isaac.
The Nichols came to Houston because they say hotels in other areas were price gouging. When they started running out of money, they had trouble finding assistance.
Now, people have been lining up to help the family, giving them groceries and cash.
Sunday, they also got some help from the Red Cross.
"We thank everybody that’s been nothing but a blessing to us. Houston has really made us feel like we are a part of them," said Jeanene Nichols.
The hotel the Nichols have been staying in, Springhill Suites at 2750 North Loop West, has agreed to let them stay as long as they need to.
Family members say they’ll be able to return to Louisiana when the power at their house comes back on.
