BASF to temporarily close 80 plants

FREEPORT, Texas—The money crunch is hitting Freeport.
BASF, a chemical company, plans to temporarily close 80 plants worldwide.
They said the move is the result of slow demand.
Workers are being encouraged to take vacation time and reduce their overtime.
The number of employees affected by the temporary closures at Freeport was not known.
