HOUSTON — It won't be a hard freeze this weekend so your pipes will not need to be wrapped. Tropical plants, however, will need to be brought in or covered to protect from the cold. Here's the timeline:
Saturday 3 p.m.: Clearing skies. Temperatures fall into the mid 40s. Gusty north winds between 15 and 25 mph.
Saturday 8 p.m.: Clear skies and temperatures dropping to around 40 degrees. Winds still gusty between 15 and 20 mph.
Sunday 7 a.m.: Area-wide light freeze. Temperatures in the high 20s in the northern counties to near 32 degrees in downtown Houston. Sunny skies are expected.
Sunday 12 p.m.: Beautiful and sunny. Temperatures in the high 40s. Winds 5 to 15 mph.
Sunday 4 p.m.: Clear skies. High temperatures near 50 degrees.
Sunday 7 p.m.: Skies remain clear. No rain expected. Temperatures in the 40s.

Expect a sunny and cold Sunday afternoon with highs only in the 40's Normal high this time of year is 63. Only our far northern areas (Huntsville, College Station) will see freezing temps on Monday morning.
