HOUSTON – The Texas Department of Transportation will make emergency repairs to the concrete barrier wall on North Loop eastbound over Eastex outbound this weekend.
The concrete barrier wall was struck by a heavy truck traveling northbound on Eastex as it passed underneath the North Loop 7:35 a.m. Friday.

To facilitate the closure, all mainlanes of Eastex northbound at the North Loop will be closed Friday at 9 p.m. until possibly Sunday at 5 a.m.
Motorists traveling on Eastex northbound will be detoured to North Loop eastbound mainlanes, take the Lockwood exit, U-turn at Lockwood, continue on the North Loop frontage road to the Eastex northbound frontage road to re-enter the mainlanes of Eastex northbound.
Also, the outside lane of North Loop eastbound at Eastex will be blocked.
KHOU 11's Darby Douglas recommends drivers avoid Eastex at 610 entirely by taking I-10 downtown westbound to I-45 northbound to 610 eastbound.
Debris from the crash flew onto the ramp above, striking the windshield of a minivan. At this time there are no reports of death or serious injuries.
