HOUSTON -- A big rig carrying a load of bleach overturned on the Eastex Freeway early Wednesday, snarling outbound traffic.

The crash happened at 3 a.m. near Lee Road, not far from Beltway 8.

As of 10:30 a.m. the truck was back upright, and the roadway was reopened shortly after.

Police said the crash happened when the semi slammed into another vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the freeway. The vehicle was stopped because it had been involved in an earlier wreck when it slid on the slick road and crashed into the concrete barrier.

When the truck hit the car, the driver had already gotten out. No injuries were reported.

The cleanup effort took more than sever hours, however, because crews had to offload the bleach in the cargo area before up-righting the 18-wheeler.
