HOUSTON -- The Katy Freeway frontage road was shut down following a fatal crash early Monday.

Houston TranStar reports the incident happened just after 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Gessner.

A man in an older sedan reportedly lost control and slammed into an electrical pole and fence. He died at the scene.

Police are investigating the incident.

As of 6 a.m. the westbound frontage road remained shut down. It didn't fully reopen until about 10:30 a.m.
