A deadly crash shutdown all the mainlanes on I-45 at FM 1960 on Sunday morning.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, they received multiple reports of a Nissan Highlander traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-45 around 5:20 a.m.
Witnesses said the wrong-way driver was speeding and crashed into a red vehicle. Upon impact, the Nissan spun out of control and caught fire.
Deputies said the wrong-way driver was killed instantly. The driver in the other car was transported by Memorial Hermann Life Flight and was seriously injured.
HCSO hasn't identified the driver. They plan to follow up with the Medical Examiner to see if he was intoxicated.
