HOUSTON -- One driver is dead after three big rigs caught fire on the I-10 East Freeway early Wednesday afternoon, according to TxDOT.

There is no information on the condition of the other two drivers.

The vehicle fires shut down I-10 East in both directions near Dell Dale Wednesday afternoon. As of 4:00 p.m., only the westbound lanes have been reopened.

TxDOT says that the trucks still need to be removed and it is a Hazmat situation. Also, authorities say there is significant damage to the roadway. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes during the evening rush hour.
