HOUSTON – Police believe an off-roading joyrider ditched an SUV, leading to a collision with a train late Wednesday in southwest Houston.

The incident happened before midnight on Westpark and Newcastle.

Police believe an unknown number of suspects were driving around in a dirt area below the Westpark overpass at the railroad tracks when the Toyota FJ got stuck. The suspects fled, leaving the SUV behind, and it was eventually struck by a train.

There were no injuries.

Police are now working to track down the SUV’s owner.
