A week full of celebrations for Houston Texans legend Andre Johnson kicked off Tuesday with a visit to City Hall.
The retired wide receiver was honored during Tuesday’s city council meeting where Mayor Pro Tem Ellen Cohen proclaimed Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, as “Andre Johnson Day” in Houston.
Johnson brought his mother and uncle -- two of his biggest inspirations -- to City Hall.

Johnson, 36, spent 12 seasons with the Texans and one season each with the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. The 7-time Pro Bowler is the team’s all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. He signed a one-day contract in April to officially retire as a Texan.
Johnson will be honored during halftime of Houston’s game against the Arizona Cardinals where he will be inducted as the first member of the franchise’s “Ring of Honor.”
