When Tim Duncan came to San Antonio, he was a young man used to keeping to himself. He was shy in public and didn't like to do interviews.
He didn't yet know how to handle the hype of being the No. 1 pick in the 1997 NBA Draft.
He grew to become the cornerstone of the Spurs franchise and the man who helped to set the culture of the team.
He was a dominant power forward, often called the best ever to play the position.
San Antonians have embraced Tim Duncan as one of our own. It's a sad day to see him retire, but he will remain a pillar of the San Antonio community.
