The Houston Rockets confirmed Saturday that guard Patrick Beverley will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
The operation is scheduled for Tuesday and will be performed by Dr. Walt Lowe. Following the surgery, Beverley will be re-evaluated by Lowe and Dr. Steven Flores in about three weeks.
CBS Sports reports that Beverley will miss at least 20 games as the regular season gets underway this week.
In a press conference Friday, head coach Mike D'Antoni admitted the injury "complicates" things as the team attempts to make its final roster cuts. A 20 game absence would equate to roughly 5-6 weeks on the sideline for the guard. Pablo Prigioni and Tyler Ennis figure to compete for James Harden's primary back up role at point guard, while Eric Gordon and K.J. McDaniels could see an increased workload in the backcourt, reported CBS.
