The Houston Astros have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with relief pitcher Joe Smith.

Houston Astros general manager Juff Lunhow announced the acquisition Wednesday.

The 33-year-old combined to go 3-0 with one save and a 3.33 ERA (20 earned runs in 54 innings pitched) in 59 games with the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians this season. Smith posted 71 strikeouts in his 54 IP and allowed a .229 opponent batting average.

In his four American League Division Series appearances with the Indians, Smith pitched 2.1 scoreless innings. He allowed one hit and no runs in 5 innings over his secen-career postseason appearances.

Smith is an 11-year MLB veteran who has made 698 career relief appearances, posting a 2.97 ERA.
