The University of Texas football team is set to duke it out with the University of Missouri Tigers at the 2017 Academy Sports + Outdoors Texas Bowl at the NRG Stadium in Houston.
The game will mark the 24th time the two schools have faced off against each other and the second time they will have competed in a bowl game against each other. In 1946, the Longhorns took the win over the Tigers 40-27 at the Cotton Bowl. That win is like many others UT has had against Missouri since they started playing against each other in 1931.
According to UT Athletics, the Longhorns own a 17-6 all-time record against the Tigers.
One thing working in UT's favor for the upcoming game is their strong defense, according to UT Athletics. The Longhorns are tied for the national lead in non-offensive touchdowns, defensive touchdowns and interceptions returned for a touchdown.
The younger players are also doing well to keep the Longhorns competitive: the top two passers, top two rushers and top three receivers are all sophomores or freshmen, according to UT.
The game kicks off at 8 p.m. Central on ESPN Wednesday, Dec. 27.
